About JJ's Crafts

In 1990 I had an inspiration to produce colorful spinning and knitting yarn. My shop at this time was in a very old wool store in Napier. I needed to see something bright, so I surrounded myself with colour. This was the start of my dyeing adventure.

In 1994, I relocated my business to a larger and brighter warehouse and increased my shop. I now had an extensive hand painted knitting range, and had started exporting to the USA. My shop had expanded to include many ranges of knitting yarn, embroidery, spinning and weaving supplies, gift lines and many other crafts. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep out the dust and the rain. In 2004 I relocated to Thackeray St Napier, and I now have this lovely new retail shop.

The shop was my dream of many years. I always wanted to be able to fill it with lovely threads, embroidery, and make it an enjoyable adventure for my shoppers. This has eventuated. I now stock threads , Stef Francis, Oliver Twist, and Benton and Johnson gold threads from England. Treenway silks with Judith Baker Montanos beautiful range, from Canada. Some Presencia threads,Au ver a soir silks, Colourstreams, and Jacinta Leishmans Range or threads from Australia. All the DMC, Raj, Paternaya, Appeltons Crewel and many more.

Beads have become a big temptation in JJ's Crafts. I have an extensive range of Delica, Mill Hill, Swarovski Crystals, John James , and embellishment beads to name a few. My beads are suitable for both embroidery, embellishing and Jewelery.

In 2007 decided that to complete my adventure I would add Patchwork fabrics to my range. I now stock over 3000 bolts of Fabric and compliment this with patterns, BOM Kits, quilting threads, and accessories.

The walls of my shop are covered in embroidery works, patchwork Quilts and knitted garments. All help to show my customers how my products work.

I have now sold my Hand-painting range of knitting yarn. I suppose I could say I retired from the labour intensive side of my business, but stil lI stock many ranges of knitting wool all in fabulous colours,and textures. all accompanied with a good selection of patterns.

We at JJ's Crafts are a close knit group. We all offer advice and help in our different fields. Mail orders are attended to on the same day, and we have a back order and a back up service.
